Grading Rules

  1. 1.Only Qualified OKK Examiners my conduct Dan gradings
  1. 2.Club Instructors* may conduct in house Kyu gradings up to and including 4th Kyu  (*Sho dans)
  1. 3.Incoming/joining grades may be transferred to OKK grades on assessment from an OKK Qualified Examiner

Key points

12 Kyu -9 Kyu

Kihon: The  Candidate must be able to demonstrate the most basic of punches blocks and kicks in Front Stance

Kumite – Very basic 5 step sparring Jodan & Chudan

Kata – Warming up to Hian Shodan

8 Kyu

Kihon: The  Candidate must be able to demonstrate basic punches blocks and kicks and Back and Side Stances

Kumite – 5 step sparring

Kata – Hian Shodan

7 -kyu

Kihon: The addition of Uchi Uke.

Kumite: Gohon-kumite with power

Kata: Heian nidan

6-kyu

Kihon: gyaku-zuki combination added to the blocks

Kumite: Gohon-kumite, with mae-geri added

Kata: Heian sandan

5-kyu

Kihon: Mawashi-Geri added

Kumite: One Step Sparing Jordan, Chudan & Mae Geri

Kata: Heian yondan

4-kyu

Kihon: Soto-uke empi, with stance changes from zenkutsu-dachi to kiba-dachi & Shuto-Uke Nukite, with stance changes from kokutsu-dachi to zenkutsu-dachi.

Kumite: Yoko-Geri Added

Kata: Heian godan

3-kyu

Kihon:  Uraken,  kizami-zuki & ren-geri (jodan chudan)/(mae-geri mawashi-geri) added

Kumite: Mawashi-Geri Added

Kata: Tekki shodan

2-kyu & 1-kyu

Kihon: Sambon-Zuki Added

Kumite Jiyu-ippon-kumite. Jodan and Chudan Mae-Geri, Yoko-Geri, and Mawashi-geri.

1st(Sho)-Dan Minimum age 16 years

Kihon

From zenkutsu-dachi with gedan-barai move forward with chudan-oizuki.

Turn around with zenkutsu-dachi and move forward with chudan-oizuki gyaku-zuki・age-uke gyaku-zuki・chudan-soto-uke gyaku-zuki・gedan-barai gyaku-zuki → kokutsu-dachi shuto-uke→ zenkutsu-dachi gyaku-zuki.

Turn around with zenkutsu-dachi and move forward with mae-geri.

Turn around with zenkutsu-dachi and move forward with mawashi-geri.

Turn around with zenkutsu-dachi and move forward with yoko-geri-keage.

Turn around with zenkutsu-dachi and move forward with yoko-geri-kekomi.

Turn around with zenkutsu-dachi and move forward with ushiro-geri.

Kumite Jiyu-ippon-kumite.

Attacks are jodan and chudan oizuki, mae-geri, yoko-geri, and mawashi-geri.

2nd (Ni)-dan

Kihon

From Free-style kamae gyaku-zuki.

From zenkutsu-dachi kamae ren-geri. Mae-geri → mawashi-geri → yoko-geri → ushiro-geri.

From zenkutsu-dachi gyaku-zuki kamae while staying in place with the age-uke gyaku- zuki → chudan-soto-uke gyaku-zuki → gedan-barai gyaku-zuki.

Kumite Jiyu-kumite (free-style sparring)

Kata Tokui-gata: choose from Jion, Bassai-dai, Empi, and Kanku-dai (to be chose by the examinee)

Shitei-gata (kihon-gata) one kata designated by the examiner and taken from the following: Heian-nidan, sandan, yondan, godan, or Tekki-shodan.

3rd(San)-dan minimum age 21years

Kihon

From Free-style kamae kizami-zuki → sambon-zuki. From Free-style kamae kizami-zuki → mae-geri → oizuki.

From Free-style kamae step back age-uke → mawashi-geri (with back leg) → uraken → oizuki. From Kiba-dachi and move sideways kicking yoko-geri-keage → yoko-geri-kekomi (changing legs).

From zenkutsu-dachi while staying in place with the back leg kick mae-geri → yoko- geri → ushiro-geri. (Left and right)

Kumite Jiyu-kumite (free-style sparring)

Kata Tokui-gata Shitei-gata (sentei-gata) one kata chosen freely by the examinee from Jion, Bassai-dai, Empi, and Kanku-dai.

4th(Yon)-dan 5th(Go)-dan

Need 3 years after taking 3dan qualification
